Junk Mail

As a rule I do not reply to these types of emails. I don't forward them and I actually hate getting them. Even the Jesus-Junk-Mail is used by spammers to collect email addresses. The real problem sentence in these messages, like the one that I highlighted below, always says something like "send this to everybody on planet earth, especially the person who sent this to you." If everybody always hits Reply-All to this sort of thing the Spammer behind the curtain gets all our email addresses. That is how this garbage works and that is why I delete all of them. In the case of a couple of friends of mine who only send this sort of email, I have actually flagged their email addresses as spam.

Ok, that being said, I have received this email from everybody in my family this morning – first from my wife and then from my mother and several of my siblings. I feel like responding here on the blog so that (hopefully) I can satisfy their appetite for the mundane without actually contributing to something that I view as a real problem (i.e. the email garbage).

So here it is…

If you opened it, you have to do it (it only takes a couple of minutes, I Promise!)

Here's what you're supposed to do.... And please do not spoil the fun.

Hit forward, delete my answers and type in your answers.

Then send this to a whole bunch of people you know INCLUDING the Person who sent it to you. [THIS IS PERHAPS MY BIGGEST BEEF WITH THIS SORT OF SPAM]

Have fun and BE HONEST.

Six names you go by:

1.    Maunderer

2-6.    Sorry, my name doesn't get put on my blog (I know that this is probably the most interesting of these pointless little questions, but that is my rule)

Three things you are wearing right now:

1.    Button up shirt with a busy, flowery pattern

2.    Jeans

3.    Diesel watch

Three things you want very badly at the moment:

1.    Clarity of thought

2.    A maid to clean the house

3.    A fork

Three People who I hope will fill this out:

1.    Eve

2.    Stephanie

3.    Anonymous

Two things you did last night:

1.    Played Wii boxing for a couple of hours. This morning I felt like I had really been beat up.

2.    Made dinner

Two things I ate today:

1.    A spoon full of strawberry yogurt

2.    Mixed with half a container of plain yogurt (if I ate them together, does it still count as two things?)

Two people you last talked to on the phone:

1.    Jason

2.    Becky

Two things you are going to do tomorrow:

1.    Read

2.    Waste time

Your favorite beverages:

1.    Really, I am not that loyal to any beverage. It depends a lot on my mood. I like Coke but the sugar bothers me and I just can't do the diet thing. Coke Zero doesn't do anything for me.

2.    I like Sunny Delight

3.    Water

So there you all go. Now, please, DO NOT email me this stuff. Thanks for understanding.

  1. Ha ha ha!

Most people, you know, most of the time, don't hit "reply all." The messages are supposed to be forwarded--which means, of course, that the e-mail addresses would never get back to your original spam/e-mail collectors.

That said, I enjoyed the forwards today but I also understand your frustration and I generally try not to send a lot of (any) fowards ... but today's were fun for me!
